Also known as: child growth chart calculator, growth percentile chart, WHO growth chart calculator, kids height and weight percentile.

Worked example

Weight-for-age percentile: 53rd percentile (BMI-for-age: Healthy weight). At 5 years: weight 53rd, height 50th, BMI 54th percentile. Weight is in the "typical" range.

Formula and cut-offs

Weight and BMI use a log-normal z-score, height uses a normal z-score, each against approximate WHO reference medians for age and sex. BMI-for-age is derived from the reference weight and height medians.

Frequently asked questions

How often should I check my child's growth?

Routine checkups plot growth at set ages. Tracking at home every few months is enough. Compare trends, not a single measurement.

Is this a diagnosis?

No. It is an educational estimate. A paediatrician interprets growth with family history, puberty stage and health history.

What do growth chart percentiles mean?

A percentile compares your child with children of the same age and sex. The 75th percentile for height means the child is taller than 75 of 100 children of the same age. Steady growth along a line matters more than any single number.

What is the weight-for-age percentile for a 5-year-old boy, 18.5 kg and 110 cm?

Weight-for-age percentile: 53rd percentile (BMI-for-age: Healthy weight). At 5 years: weight 53rd, height 50th, BMI 54th percentile. Weight is in the "typical" range. Enter your own numbers above for a personal result.
