About the Child Height Predictor

Predict your child’s likely adult height using the mid-parental height formula and, if you add the child’s age and height, their current growth percentile. The result shows a likely range and how it compares with the average adult.

Also known as: adult height predictor, how tall will my child be, mid-parental height calculator, height predictor.

Worked example

Predicted adult height: 177 cm (Average · 177 cm). Using the mid-parental method, a boy with these parents is likely to reach about 177 cm, most likely between 168 cm and 185 cm.

Formula and cut-offs

Boys: (mother + father + 13 cm) / 2. Girls: (mother + father - 13 cm) / 2. About 95% of children finish within 8.5 cm of this value. Growth-based projection keeps the child’s current height percentile into adulthood.
